Last weekend we, the Old Lyonian Golf Society made our annual trip to play Lyme Regis Golf Club.

On the way down on Friday we played Came Down in delightful sunshine affording views of Dorchester to the north and Weymouth and the sea to the south.

Playing for the OL Artisans Trophy we saw a return to form for Mike Christelow who won with a stunning 43 points from runner up Roger Baker on 35 points and third place Robert Palmer on 24 points.

Hole prizes were won by Roger Baker, Robert Palmer and our tour virgin John Wilson.

Saturday saw a complete contrast in weather with heavy rain alternating with thick overhanging clouds making play impossible until 4.00 pm. Regrettably the match was abandoned but we did manage to squeeze in our own competition over 12 holes which was won by John Orchard with a stonking 28 points – 6 ahead of second place Graham Burwood. Hole prizes were won by robert Palmer, Steve Martin and John Orchard.

Plans are already in place for next year’s trip when hopefully the weather will be kinder giving us a chance to win back the trophy.

Front row left to right: Paul Hickey, Steve Martin, John Davies, Joe Kerridge, Ian Dennison.
Middle row left to right: Mike Christelow, John Orchard, Robert Palmer, Paul Harris.
Back row left to right: John Kerley, Graham Burwood, Tony Lawson and John Wilson.
