God bless you! men with whom I played

And fought in days of yore!

Ah would that I could share this game,

As those I shared before

This verse is from the poem, 'To the Old Boys Who Have Left Us' written by Harold Tickle (OL) who served in both World Wars.

At the declaration of war, a hundred and more Old Boys volunteered, including Temple and Victor Silvester, sons of the vicar of Wembley, who left School early, lied about their ages and joined up.
