As The John Lyon School celebrates its 150th anniversary, this memorial project honours the Sons of the School who gave their lives during the First World War. In October 2026, Old Lyonians (OLs) from the Class of 1976 will travel to Ypres, Belgium to dedicate a permanent brass plaque in St George's Memorial Church, creating a lasting tribute to their courage, service and sacrifice.
Through the memorial's QR code, visitors will be able to discover the stories behind those commemorated, beginning with the Roll of Honour, creating content to the School's rich history and traditions and follow our OLs journey to Ypres.
We hope this venture will encourage Old Lyonians of every generation to engage with and help preserve our shared history and enduring commitment to Heart, Honour and Heritage, ensuring the legacy of those who gave their lives continues to educate, inspire and unite our community.
More information will be added to this page as the project develops. Please check back for updates.
