A reminder that all OLs are able to join the East India Club.
The J7 Scheme enables young men, having attended a HMC School and attained the age of 18, to join a Gentlemen's Club at a modest rate. The discounted offer must be taken up within 18 months of leaving school with the application being supported by the School. Once elected, there is no further payment due and the membership continues until the January after their 25th birthday at which point a sliding scale membership to age 30 then gains you full membership subscription. There are over 2,400 members under the age of 30, the wide age range contributes greatly to a sociable, interesting and friendly club.
An active young members committee help organise a Casino evening and Jazz BBQ and help steer many initiatives. Other annual club events include a young members dinner, summer and winter cocktail parties, a house dinner, Lord Mayor's luncheon and a carol concert. Other dinners, lecture events and wine tastings feature from time to time and go towards a varied calendar of social events for members and their guests.
In addition there are outings to the home internationals at Twickenham and debenture seats at Lords which compliment the clubs sporting societies which currently include, golf, rugby, fly fishing, snooker, cricket, rowing, chess and shooting. There is we hope, something for everyone and the J7 scheme is a tremendous way to become a member.
