Professionals from a variety of backgrounds gathered to share their experience working in media with parents and pupils on May 18, 2023. We welcomed back two Old Lyonians: Adam Penny (OL 1993) now co-founder and CEO of Connected Pictures and Theo Gee (OL 2012), who orginally started his working career working alongside Adam and is now a freelance editor and director.
Both of Adam and Theo were Head Boys at the School and it was fascinating to hear about their journey into the media industry with a glimpse of some of their recent film projects. they both share the same passion of making content that delivers a purpose and the audience were certainly inspired by their work, the skills they have both achieved and the passion they have.
In addition we welcomed Arti Lukha and Lucy Dyer, a Senior News Editor at ITV News and an Editorial Development Manager at News Associates. They shared snippets of their long, arduous journey in Journalism, whilst not always glamorous, each of their roles provide different rewards. Mr P Treherne, Teacher of English, who leads our film making club during our Co-Curricular Programme on a Friday afternoon spoke about the variety of film making work he has been involved prior to joining John Lyon. This offered the audience an impressive array of panellists which was followed by a browse of employer stands which allowed parents and pupils more intimate discussions with our media representatives.
After the event Adam and Theo managed to sneek in a short tour of the School and were most impressed with the developments between their 20 years apart since both left teft the School and the various changes to the learning environment.
We thank our OLs for making time and sharing their riveting journey with us.
