Young and Old Lyonians came together to honour John Lyon, our founder, on Friday 28th September.

We were delighted, last Friday, to welcome back to John Lyon School nearly 40 Old Lyonians, all of whom left the School at least 50 years ago and some of whom had not been back to the School since.

The celebration of our extraordinary Founder, John Lyon, who died on 3rd October 1592, began with tours of the School, led by our current prefects, and coffees in the Refectory.

A moving service at St Mary's followed, with welcomes from Katherine Haynes, our Head, and the vicar of St Mary's and an address from the Mayor of Harrow.  The Motet Choir sang Hubert Parry's I was glad and everyone joined the choir in singing Jerusalem, the National Anthem and the new School Song.

We returned to School for a Founder's Feast of roast chicken and pulled pork and sticky apple pudding (apparently things have moved on a long way since the Top Missus and Bottom Missus of the 1950s!), where Neil Menzies (OL 1952-1960) thanked the School on behalf of the Old Lyonians present.

It was great to see so many people returning to School and we hope to see many more next year!
