During the Lunch, Max explained his journey into such a niche career path and the motivation to keep trying, answering all the impressive questions given by interested pupils and students. Describing the mindset and characteristics you need to have to become successful, and the realistic lifestyle and expectations you need to set for yourself.

Since leaving John Lyon in 2016, Max has had an impressive and exciting start to a career in Motorsports. Starting his journey by joining the MSA (Motorsport UK) Academy and quickly making his winning debut in car racing, being backed by the Renault Retails group to compete in the Renault Clio Jnr Championship. That same year, Max finished 3rd in his first championship and was nominated for the Motorsport UK Young Driver of the Year.

Between 2018 and 2022, Max has competed in Formula Ford and claimed multiple podiums and class wins, given the opportunity to drive a new F3 team in the British F3 series and claiming a podium while driving for an established team that had won the title the year preceeding. As well as, being offered to drive in the GB4 Championship the week of the first race, finishing in victory with 10 podiums and finishing 3rd in the overall Championship.

For the last year, he has become the lead development role and test driver of the Formula Foundation car, and been a frequent commentator and presenter for the GB3 and GB4 Championships.

Our Head Boy Lunch series provides pupils across the School an understanding of various industry sectors and what qualifications, skills and attributes can support their career ambitions. A broad variety of topics are chosen each term by the Head Boy Team. If you would like to come back to John Lyon and share your experience with current students, please get in touch by email: Bharti.bhikha@johnlyon.org
