On Wednesday 1st May we had our first fixture of the season with the OL Golf Society playing the School at Stanmore Golf Club.
After last year’s defeat we had a steely determination to win back the President’s Cup and we managed to prevail 2-1 in a very closely contested match.

The golf was followed by a supper where OLA President, Paul Matarewicz, presented the trophy to the winning team.

The OL’s team comprised Anooj Mehta, making his debut in his first year as an OL, John Davies, Rick Harragin, Paul Harris, John Curtis and David Silberman.

Thanks to Ian Parker for organising the School team and for making this an annual fixture in the calendar.

On Thursday 9th May we held our annual Spring Meeting at Northwood Golf Club which was attended by 26 keen golfers and Paul Matarewicz, who presented the prizes at the evening dinner.

The morning round is a pairs competition playing in Greensomes format, competing for the Captain’s Cup.  New-boy Prashant Gupta, along with his partner David Jacks, won with a magnificent 41 points, just pipping Paul Martin and Ian Dennison on 40 points.  David Lemmon picked up the spoils winning both nearest the pin and longest drive.

In the afternoon, we play for two trophies. Sam Koch won the President's Cup (again) for the best low gross score, with a 76 beating John Davies with a 78.

The main event is the Northwood Cup, for the highest Stableford score, and this was won by David Whiskard with a terrific 40 points. Sam was in 2nd spot on 37 points narrowly ahead of John Davies in 3rd spot on count back.

Smaller prizes were won by Sam, John Kerley and William Davies.

The course was in great condition and the weather gods smiled upon us as we managed to miss most of the rain.

If you are a golfer of any standard and would like to play please get in touch with our Secretary John Davies by email john@jdretailproperty.com
