After leaving John Lyon, Ben studied History at the University of Bristol, basing his dissertation on the influence of black music on the Civil Rights Movement. He was heavily involved with the music society at the University, joining the committee of the Madrigal Ensemble (MADS) in his second year and playing key roles in the Universities Opera performances of Hydrogen Jukebox, The Cunning Little Vixen and The Marriage of Figaro (in which he was given the lead).
When asked about his fondest memory from John Lyon, Ben spoke about the music trip he took to Venice and being able to perform solo's at some of the world's greatest musical venues - whom he can't thank the school and music department enough for that opportunity.
On his return he was treated to a variety of performances from both the lower and upper sections of the School's four houses. Impressive performances included renditions of 'The Lion Sleeps Tonight' and Shakira's 'Waka-Waka' to 'Sweet Caroline' and 'Sweet Child of Mine'.
In the end, Ben gave the win to Moore for their brilliant performance of 'I want it that way' by The Backstreet Boys.
