Motet Choir Evensong at St George's Chapel

Former Motet Choir members met up to enjoy John Lyon's current Motet Choir singing evensong at St George's Chapel Windsor
4 Jul 2019
Howard Sayer (1970 - 1977), Martin Mather (1959 - 1965), Jeremy Utton (1965 - 1972) and Kevin Thomas (1965 - 1972) came to Windsor on Wednesday 26th June to hear the Motet Choir sing evensong at the Queen's Chapel of St George at Windsor Castle.

After a refershing cream tea to restore those who had travelled long way, from as far as Devon and Somerset, we queued at the Castle gate to be escorted across to the Royal Chapel.  We were lucky to be seated in the Knights' Stalls, the surprisingly uncomfortable seats occupied by the Royal family in recent weddings.  The ornate and intimate chapel was a perfect location to enjoy evensong.  After the service, the OLs commented how seeing the choir walk in immediately brought back memories of his own tours with the Motet Choir.

We are crossing fingers for a very special location for evensong next year.  We will organise a reunion for Motet Choir members when we have more details, but all OLs will be most welcome.  Keep an eye on our events page for updates.
