30 Years of Teaching

Congratulations to Mr Vivian Davies for reaching 30 years of teaching brass at John Lyon!

Vivian grew up learning to play the horn and was taught by his father. He became Principal Horn of the Glamorgan Youth Orchestra, the National Youth Orchestra of Wales and the Orchestra of Cardiff University. After University, Mr Davies became Principal Horn with the Band of Her Majesty’s Scots Guards, serving for 25 years, during this time he took part in all State Occasions and visited many different countries. He then began teaching at several schools, starting the Horn here in 1993, where both of his sons were pupils. Tim joined in 1990 and Christopher joined in 1993, later becoming Head Boy.

Well done to Vivian - what an incredible achievement!
