It is with great sadness to announce the sudden death of Lindsay Irvine on Saturday 8th July 2023.
Lindsay began his career at John Lyon in September 1977 as Teacher of Modern Foreign Languages, teaching German and French. He soon become Head of German as well as the Assistant Head of Sixth Form. During his time at the School, Lindsay organised numerous trips including overseas exchanges, study visits both in the UK and abroad. He was also responsible for badminton, the after school club and for Butler House.
Stuart Miles, who was a member of staff at the school from 1996 to 2015, and was latterly the Senior Deputy Head, said “Lindsay was an extraordinarily popular member of staff and greatly supportive of all the students he taught, in addition to being a hugely respected member of the Common Room”.
Lindsay left the school at the end of the academic year in July 2010. The whole School Community is extremely grateful for his 33 years of commitment and send our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.
