We are sad to share the news of Paul Easton’s passing early this year in February from his fellow classmates Jeremy Utton and Kevin Thomas.
Paul, aged 69, attended John Lyon from 1965 to 1972 and during his time at School was part of the Motet Choir, a Prefect and since leaving had attended the annual OLA Dinner’s. After leaving School, Paul began his professional radio career in 1974 where he joined LBC Radio as a studio operator and soon became a programme producer and eventually the station’s head of production with responsibilities of LBC’s on-air imaging and branding. Thereafter Paul spent many years working as a freelancer programmer and consultant across commercial stations broadcasting to Channel Islands, France and Vienna. Paul has worked at Capital Radio, Capital Gold, BRMB-FM, Infinity Media to name a few. Paul also volunteered at Radio Northwick Park, hospital in northwest London.
Jeremy Utton, former classmate said:
‘Paul Easton was in the 1965-1972 JL intake along with me, Kev Thomas, Rob Ashmore, Andy Watkiss, Steve Hodges and Geoff Peppiatt. It’s incredibly sad: Paul was a very gentle, good-hearted guy - after Simon Henry, another ‘65er no longer with us and both after very short and unexpected illnesses’.
Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Paul.
