We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Brian Simmons on December 24, 2024. Brian dedicated 32 years of his life to teaching at John Lyon School, where he served as Head of Mathematics for 16 years.
He had a particular passion for teaching double maths and was known for his exceptional ability to connect with some of the most gifted students. Brian also had a talent for inspiring younger pupils to develop a love for mathematics.
Even in retirement, his enthusiasm for the subject never faded, and he continued to pursue his interest in Quantum Physics. He also took up learning to play the bass guitar.
Brian spoke often with great fondness about his time at John Lyon School, and we are certain that many former pupils will remember him fondly.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends.
