Bob sadly died on 14th April. Bob’s wife Sue wrote:

Bob was born in Bushey Herts, 21st June 1941, an only child to Bob (senior) and Dorothy (Doll) Udy, It was his mother’s “longest day”.

Bob spent a happy childhood in Harrow attending Roxeth Manor Primary School, in South Harrow and then Greenhill Primary, in the town. At 11 years, he moved on to The Lower School of John Lyon on The Hill. During this time, he sang in the school choir as well as the choir of St Mary’s Church in Harrow-on-the-Hill. He was an accomplished pianist reaching Grade 8 and having some success in local music festivals. He was also the school pianist for two years. He played cricket as a rather “agricultural” batsman and an average pace bowler, for the School, and outside he played rugby for Harrow Rugby Football Club as a wing.

He spent a full life with 17 years in the RAF as an Air Traffic Controller followed by becoming a civilian once more and entering the financial world. Before finally retiring in 2006, he tried his hand at “mystery shopping” which with a background in Amdrams proved to be most enjoyable.

Living in Shropshire, married with a son and daughter plus four Grandchildren, Bob enjoyed retired life motor caravanning around Europe, cycling, singing bass in the local choir, and building a model railway layout in his spare time. In 2021 he was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis which shortened his life expectancy and he then developed pneumonia which could not be treated successfully.’

Bob’s service, Celebration of Life is taking place Friday 19th July at 11.00 at St Peter's and St Paul's Church, Wem, Shropshire – those who knew Bob are welcome to attend.

Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Bob.
