Reunions |
On Wednesday 7th November, we welcomed back to John Lyon School leavers from 1968.
In 1968, the Music Schools were newly opened, Boyd Campbell was in his final year soon to be replaced by Gordon Surtees as Head, OLs were asked back for the first time to give advice to current boys about careers (we’re still asking!), a new all-weather practice pitch was opened (funded in part by contributions from OLs and boys), and a thriving model railway club met in the upper floor of the Old Building (now the Thomas Blackwell Centre).
The Class of 1968 enjoyed tours of the School with our current excellent Prefects, who always impress and can never believe that one day they could come back for the same reunion.
They lunched together catching up on 50 years...
...and recalled childhood escapades. We wondered whether Jeremy Tatham’s school friend also remembers testing what would happen if he held on to two compasses stuck into a live socket in the Red House! Or perhaps that memory was erased during the event! Please get in touch, if that was you!
Do you recognise the faces from the main photograph?
The answers are...:
From left to right: Jeremy Tatham, Paul Harris, Robin Hiley, John Colwell (Class of 1956)) with his wife Didi, John Evans, Timothy Forcer with his wife Janet, Geoff Roland, Stephen Janaway, Richard Mason and Timothy Moore.
